Good Evening to All!

It has been a while since I have sent out updates, so I thought now would be
a good time to do so. I have been extremely busy in so many areas that it
isn't funny.

In May, I attended a reunion of the B-Girls (submarines) in Portland. It had
been more than 20 years since I had seen my former shipmates and I had a
great time. I look forward to the next one in two years. My time spent on
diesel boats still remains one of the best times of my life.

The CA Cold War Museum has been awarded a library of reference books on
several aspects of museum operations. This includes areas such as creating
an emergency plan, care of specialized collections, museum operations, and
other items that will assist the museum in creating courses for our
community such as caring for family heirlooms. The approximate value of this
collection is $1000. Thanks goes to the AASLH and the IMLS for making this
gift possible.

Many of you know that I have been looking into making some changes with our
organization. After consulting with several interested organizations over
this past weekend, the board of directors for the CA Cold War Museum has
decided to integrate our project into a County Historical Museum for Yuba
County. Yuba County has had a long history of being a major force in
creating the State of California and being the tool that has helped the
State become one of the largest economies in the world (current financial
crisis excluded), and yet they still do not have a County History Museum. By
taking this step, we are also ensuring that the CA Cold War Museum will be
able to effectively advance our mission to educate the public about the Cold
War. What this means is that we are going to be the primary organization for
establishing the Yuba County Museum of History.
The particulars of how this will be accomplished will be worked out over the
next few months. We hope you will support this effort and consider making a
tax deductible donation today.

Please keep an eye on our website. We will be making some updates soon. We
will be adding a page with information about local events such as the Beale
Open House and the EAA Regional Fly-in.

Please keep in touch and let me know if you would like to help! We would
love to have you!

Richard B. Neault
